Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy kicked-off the 2016-2017, school year Friday. Dr. Elaine Swafford, executive director of CGLA said she has been leading her team this summer, planning and laying the ground for the first day of school by providing professional development to each teacher and staff and establishing the goals for the upcoming school year.“The students arrive today and excitement was in the air, both from students and faculty”, said Dr. Swafford. The students and faculty were reminded by Principal Beck of the importance of the CGLA Vision and Standards for Success, which is to inspire hope in each girl, positively changing her trajectory in life, and empowering her to possess infinite choices in the future. It is very clear in the hallways and classrooms of CGLA this vision is the driving force behind making sure our girls who come from underserved backgrounds receive an advantaged education.Mr. Justin Booker, community engagement director for CGLA is as enthusiastic on the outlook for the school year. “We can’t wait to work with our community partners that will reinforce our STEAM and Problem Based Learning curriculum. The expectations of our girls are higher than ever and the projects we will see this year are going to be amazing.”"CGLA’s enrollment has increased this year, buildings are being remodeled and corporate and individual relationships are being built every day in the Chattanooga community. If you would like to schedule a school tour or if you are interested in being a part of a Chattanooga movement that is exciting and rewarding, please contact our Development office at 423-702-7230," officials said.
