Donation Campaigns

If you are looking to support a particular cause at CGLA, please review the campaigns listed below as they provide information concerning our various areas of need. When using our online donation portal, you are able to select the campaign you wish to support.

Annual Impact Fund

Contributions to the Annual Impact Fund are tax deductible and unrestricted. These donations are flexible and immediately accessible, allowing CGLA to quickly implement a newly discovered educational program or promptly address an unanticipated student or facility emergency. Your donation is an investment in unrestricted thinking and unrestricted possibilities, an investment in a promising future for every one of our present students and future students.

Founder’s Campaign

Contributions to the Founder’s Campaign are tax deductible and unrestricted. These donations are to be utilized for our current renovations and additional space needs. CGLA will utilized these donations specifically for much needed classrooms, an improved and larger Maker’s Space, a medical clinic for our students, a library and cafeteria/auditorium. Naming opportunities are available. Please request a tour of our newly acquired building space with Donna Coleman.

9th Annual Odyssey Event - March 14, 2018

Our keynote speaker is David Shapiro, the CEO of MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership. MENTOR leads, supports and champions the quality of mentoring relationships for more than 5,000 mentoring affiliates throughout the United States. Before becoming the CEO at the national level, Mr. Shapiro was the CEO of MENTOR’s Massachusetts affiliate, Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP). While there, he successfully launched Champions of Mentoring at Fenway Park, Highland Street AmeriCorps Ambassadors of Mentoring, Mass Mentoring Counts and the Bill Russell Mentoring Grants Program. Under Mr. Shapiro’s direction, MMP grew by 400%, increased state funding for mentoring programs, tapped into federal funding and distributed $1,000,000 in financial assistance to multiple mentoring organizations and more than 50% of young people were matched with a Mentor, all during his tenure. Mr. Shapiro is the Board Chair of the Mass Nonprofit Network and volunteers with many nonprofits. He is a husband, the father of two sons and a mentor to many. We feel certain you will be encouraged by his story and will be inspired to become a mentor and encourager to a young person!

Annual Golf Tournament

Our 6th Annual Golf Tournament will be held on June 7, 2018 at the Creeks Bend Golf Course. Teams can be purchased for $800 and Hole Sponsorships can be purchased for $200. Contributions to our Annual Golf Tournament are tax deductible and are primarily utilized for CGLA athletic needs. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Coleman.

Backpack for Success

Contributions to our Backpack for Success program are tax deductible and are restricted for specific needs of our students. The fund was designed by Dr. Liz Thomas and implemented by HUTTON, who are both partners of CGLA. The specific needs established are food supplies, clothing, transportation to and from mentoring services and home internet to complete school projects and assignments. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Coleman.

Contributions to CGLA’s Athletics are tax deductible and are restricted for the athletic program needs. CGLA is proud of our winning Lacrosse Team, our volleyball, basketball and softball teams. We need support with uniforms, equipment, transportation to and from events and staffing requirements. If you are interested in a specific sport or CGLA’s gym renovation, please contact Donna Coleman.

Contributions to our scholarship programs are tax deductible and are restricted funds. These funds are utilized for our student’s college needs, from application fees, multiple ACT testing requests, college prep courses, college touring, text books and future dorm needs. We currently have three opportunities for donors to become involved with our college scholarship opportunities. The Marcia and Donald O’Connor Scholarship is in memory of Marcia O’Connor, a much loved and well-remembered statistician for CGLA. The Levi Scott Scholarship has been established by Dr. Monica Jones in honor of her husband, Levi Scott, who is committed to youth and education throughout our tri-counties. The final scholarship opportunity must be addressed through Chattanooga State. The Raymond Swafford Scholarship Fund has been established by CGLA’s Executive Director, Dr. Elaine Swafford and her family. If investing in the future college needs of our graduating seniors is a primary and personal interest, these opportunities may be an area of donation that you would like to consider. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Coleman.
